2/4/1757Lord Clive remained unsuccessful after sending two ambassadors to make treaty with Siraj -Ud -Daula, while he was marching towards Calcutta.
2/9/1946Demonstrations were held against the trial of the INA men. The ratings and a few units of the Royal Indian Navy rise in open Mutiny in Mumbai harbours.
12/8/1970Army Ordnance Corps was awarded the 'Colours' by the Vice President of India, Shri G S Pathak, at AOC Centre, Secunderabad. The Ordnance colour is a scarlet silken flag with the Ordnance crest in the center and surrounding it is a wreath of Ashoka Leaves and Lotus flowers.
9/28/1837Bahadur Shah-II ascended the throne and became the emperor of Delhi at the age of 62 following the death of his father Akbar Shah-II.
4/26/1858Kunwar Singh, revolutionary of Indian mutiny and freedom fighter, passed away. He fought his last battle near Jagdishpur, Bihar on April 23, 1858 and defeated the Britishers but was deeply wounded. He also organised the national rebels.
2/9/1992Publication of daily newspaper `Lokpatra' started from Nanded.
11/17/1932The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything.
9/15/1862Gaurishankar Hirachand Oza, famous historian, was born.
