2/8/1986Sister Alphonsa was beatified by his Holiness Pope John-ll at Kottayam. She was the first woman from India to be raised to this honour. (19-7-96).
3/9/1863Laxman Bapuji Kolhatkar (Bhaurao), famous singer and actor of Marathi theatre, was born.
2/28/1994Budget with Tax Concessions of Rs.40.81 billion and a deposit of Rs.90.60 billion presented by Dr. Manmohan Singh in Parliament.
9/10/1920Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao was born at Hadagali in Karnataka. In 1945 he put forward the ""theory of estimation"" in statistics. His formulae and therorems, for instance the ""Cramer-Rao inequality"", ""The Fisher-Rao theorem"" and ""Rao-Black Wellistaion"" are now part of any standard textbook of statistics. For his significant contributions, Rao received the S. S. Bhatnagar Award, the Meghnad Saha Medal and the Guy medal.
2/20/1982The Kangla Tongbi war memorial built for 221 members of Advance Base Depot, who laid down their lives to repulse several waves of Japanese attacks, was finally shifted to College of Materials Management Jabalpur. The original memorial was erected on 15 Apr 1946 from local stone and the main epitaph displayed above is of black Naga stone.

12/25/1771Shah Alam II sat on the Throne of Dehli. Marathas captured Delhi and induced Shah Alam to return to Delhi after an absence of 18 years from the captial.
