5/1/1995	Amir Timur of Timur Lang invaded India with 92 squadrons of horses and 90,000 cavalry and reached the banks of Sindhu river near Atak city (now in Pakistan). He then attacked Delhi because its Muslim Sultanate was too tolerant of Hindu idolatry. A Mongolian follower of Sufism, he was one of the most ruthless of all conquerors. Timur crossed the Indus River at Attock (now in Pakistan) on 24 September 1398.

1/15/1949	General K. N. Kariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief. He was the first Indian to reach to this post in Indian Army. In 1956, he was designated as Chief of the Army Staff - General, later Field Marshal. This event is commemoratively observed as Army Day.
11/28/1999	Senior Awami League leader Mohammed Anwar Sheikh is killed and his wife and daughter-in-law are seriously injured in a militant attack on his house in Kashmir.
11/30/1909	Gandhiji reaches South Africa.
8/29/1947	Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar became the President of Constitution Council.
10/20/1997	All India Hindu Conference begins at Hardwar.
12/31/1910	Mallikarjun Bhimramaiya Mansoor, famous singer of ""Jaipur Gharana"", was born.
