Jayaprakash Narayan led a procession against economic conditions in Patna. There was lathi charged and he issued a call for total revolution. He also started the 'Citizens for Democracy' movement.

Constitution makes Hindi official national language, English to continue for 15 years, 14 major state languages are recognized.
